Please, tell us about how you got into wine, the wine industry, and how your career developed<\/strong><\/span>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our roots in Perchtoldsdorf stretch back to 1699, a time when viticulture was already a cornerstone of our heritage. From then to now, the significance of wine in our lives has remained steadfast. Since 1928, the heart of our wine production and marketing has been nestled at our historic location on Hochstra\u00dfe. My journey into the world of wine began with rigorous training and insightful internships, allowing me to immerse myself in the intricacies of viticulture. When the time came, I was honored to take the reins of the family business, bringing my accumulated knowledge and passion to practice, and continuing a tradition that has been cherished for centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your philosophy for making wine and viticulture?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My philosophy revolves around a harmonious partnership with nature and the essence of the wine itself. I believe that every vintage and vineyard location should tell a story through its wine, offering an authentic and distinct taste experience to all wine enthusiasts. It\u2019s crucial for me that our wines reflect the unique characteristics of each year and terroir, allowing the potential of the wine to shine through. By embracing the natural elements and nuances of the land, we create wines that are both expressive and true to their origins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which cultivar is your favourite to work with and why?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have a deep affinity for working with Pinot varieties, as well as with some of our more unique local cultivars like Rotgipfler and Neuburger. These varieties are not just central to our region's viticultural identity but also hold the promise of remarkable quality. My goal is to preserve and elevate these traditional varieties, making them more recognized and appreciated among sommeliers and wine lovers alike. The challenge and joy lie in enhancing their distinct characteristics and showcasing them in their finest form.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you see the future of wine production and what are the challenges and the opportunities?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The future of viticulture is poised to be both challenging and full of potential. As we face the realities of climate change, adapting our practices and selecting the right varieties for specific conditions will be crucial. This period of transformation offers opportunities to innovate and refine our approaches, ensuring that we continue to produce exceptional wines despite changing conditions. Embracing these challenges with creativity and resilience will pave the way for a vibrant and dynamic future in the wine industry.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where do you see the global wine market in 2025?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The global wine market is currently navigating a period of decline in consumption and facing various challenges. However, wine has a remarkable history of resilience and has weathered many crises over the centuries. I approach the future with optimism, seeing this as an opportunity for a kind of reinvention. It could be a period of rediscovery, where the focus shifts back to the roots and unique characteristics of wine, moving away from homogenization and celebrating the diversity that makes wine so special.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
