About us:

Risette is more than the name of the restaurant. She was the Lady of the House — a woman remembered for her great skill, warmth and hospitality, and for making everyone who entered her home feel genuinely welcome.

Today, that spirit lives on at Risette, located within the beautiful Casa Ellul in the heart of Valletta. The historic townhouse is also home to nine individually designed boutique hotel suites, creating an intimate setting where hospitality has always been at the heart of the house.

At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Steve Scicluna, whose culinary approach is rooted in classical French training and complemented by Japanese techniques and precision. Inspired by Risette's dishes and the memories surrounding them, the restaurant brings her story into the present through a modern and contemporary interpretation, while remaining respectful of its origins.

Recognised by the MICHELIN Guide, Risette is a place where the story of the house, its cuisine, wine and hospitality come together — and where every guest is welcomed in the spirit of the Lady who gave the restaurant its name.

Your Role as Junior Sommelier at Risette

• Curate and manage the restaurant’s wine selection, contributing to a thoughtful and well-balanced wine offering.
• Guide guests through the wine list and provide knowledgeable, personalised recommendations based on their preferences and the menu.
• Create and recommend thoughtful food and wine pairings that complement the dishes and enhance the overall dining experience.
• Deliver an exceptional and personalised wine experience, from the initial recommendation through to professional wine service.
• Share your knowledge and passion for wine with guests in a warm, engaging, and approachable way.
• Maintain a high standard of wine service and presentation throughout the guest experience.
• Work closely with the fine dining team to ensure that wine service complements the cuisine and overall hospitality experience.
• Continue developing your knowledge of wines, regions, producers, vintages, and pairing techniques.
