Name: Daniela Gillmore
Currently: Viticulturist at Gillmore Winery & Vineyards
Please, tell us about how you got into wine, the wine industry and how your career developed?
I was grown up on a vineyard, working all the summers, and I always love to be in contact with nature, animals and plants
What is your philosophy to making wine and viticulture?
I believe it must be a balance in the vineyard, you need to understand the expression of the farm, and try to naturally concentrate the grapes, managing the leaves, pruning and wine is the expression of the grapes with a little help in the winery.
Which cultivar is your favourite to work with and why?
Cabernet Franc, it is elegant, complex and has a great potential in our area.
How do you see the future of wine production and what are the challenges and the opportunities?
The challenge is to open the mind of the consumers and try to make them look for more quality products, for new varieties, new growing areas.
Where do you see the global wine market in 2025?
With a lot of big companies ruling the market and some small ones making very interesting wines in new areas.
