Our wine cellar—established in 1979—is among the largest in Scandinavia and has earned the prestigious Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence (2 Glasses). As part of our passionate team and in collaboration with our Restaurant Manager, Mr. Maxime Resse, you will help elevate the experience by sourcing wines that perfectly complement our Arctic-driven cuisine.

At Huset, we tell a story—one that unfolds across a 14-course tasting menu inspired by the landscapes, ingredients, and culture of Svalbard. Each dish is shaped by what nature offers us seasonally, thanks to close collaboration with local trappers, fishers, and foragers. Our commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do, from minimising food waste through local partnerships to repurposing kitchen oil into eco-friendly soap.

Through Nordic techniques and time-honoured preservation methods, we craft an experience that captures the essence and purity of the far North.

Your Role as Sommelier:ére

at Huset Restaurant

Join our team at Huset Restaurant as a Sommelier:ére, where you will contribute to an exceptional wine and beverage program while embracing the magic of the Arctic and the spirit of polar gastronomy.

About the Role:

We are proud of our craft and are seeking a passionate, skilled, and dedicated Sommelier:ére to join our team at Huset Restaurant — a landmark of Arctic gastronomy. As a Sommelier, you will play a key role in curating and delivering exceptional wine experiences that complement our 14-course tasting menu, while contributing to the overall atmosphere and excellence of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the wine service and guest wine experience in the restaurant.
  • Manage and maintain one of Scandinavia’s most extensive wine cellars (7000 references).
  • Support bar operations and contribute to the beverage program in collaboration with the team.
  • Ensure high standards of service through professionalism, warmth, and in-depth product knowledge.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to develop thoughtful wine pairings for our tasting menu.
  • Take an active role in inventory, cellar organisation, and supplier communication.
  • Uphold and promote sustainable practices within the beverage operation.
  • Embody and reflect the values and image of Huset through personal presentation and guest interaction.

Qualifications & Profile:

  • A strong passion for wine, hospitality, and storytelling.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in fine dining or equivalent.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of wine regions, service techniques, and food pairing principles.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a high level of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • A curious nature, high standards, and a commitment to sustainability.
  • Comfortable living and working in a remote Arctic environment, embracing the uniqueness it offers.
