Indem Sie sich über die Bräuche, Traditionen und Etikette eines Landes informieren, passen Sie sich nicht nur besser an, sondern zeigen auch Respekt für die Einheimischen des Landes, in dem Sie leben oder leben werden.
"Hosts and hostess should behave in such a way that the visitor feel at home" (J.S. Farynski)
The Etiquette can change from country to country, but the guiding principles are universal and always remember the fundamentals of good etiquette: Respect, Consideration and Honesty. Those fundamentals and a smile can go a long way when it comes to living abroad. What might be perfectly acceptable in one country, might be totally taboo in another.
In Japan it's not only acceptable to slurp the noodles in your soup, but it's considered good table manners to do so. On the other hand, if you're enjoying a nice bowl of soup in England, slurping is considered rude and would seem rather uncultivated!
