Sommelier

Join our team to craft an unforgettable food and wine experience in the stunning West of Ireland. As a Sommelier, you will play A refined wine role in a Michelin-starred restaurant on Ireland’s Atlantic coast — where craft, balance, and quality of life truly matter.

Homestead Cottage, Doolin | West of Ireland

Introduction

Set along the wild Atlantic coastline in the heart of the Burren, Homestead Cottage is an intimate, Michelin-starred restaurant where cuisine, wine, and a sense of place are inseparable. Guided by Chef Robbie McCauley, our cooking is defined by seasonality, local producers, and a quietly elegant approach that allows ingredients to speak for themselves.

Wine is a central element of the guest experience. We are seeking a Sommelier with sensitivity, precision, and genuine curiosity — someone who understands the harmony between food and wine and takes pleasure in guiding guests with warmth and discretion. This is a hands-on role within a small, committed team, where attention to detail, consistency, and hospitality are valued above all.

Homestead Cottage offers a Michelin-level environment without rigidity: professional yet personal, ambitious yet grounded. For sommeliers who appreciate classical foundations, thoughtful service, and a strong connection to lifestyle and nature, this is a rare and rewarding opportunity.

Your Responsibilities

  • Showcase your wine expertise to enhance the dining experience and highlight our chef’s culinary vision
  • Assist the front-of-house team in delivering seamless and exceptional service
  • Curate and maintain the wine cellar, ensuring optimal inventory management and continuous development
  • Develop and present a creative weekly wine pairing to surprise and delight our guests
  • Guide guests through the wine selection process, offering considered and confident recommendations
  • Conduct engaging wine tastings and staff training to elevate overall wine knowledge
  • Oversee wine procurement, liaising with suppliers to maintain a balanced and dynamic wine list
  • Ensure proper storage, rotation, and presentation of all wines in accordance with industry standards

What We Offer

  • Accommodation provided, allowing you to fully enjoy life in the West of Ireland
  • Year-round salary, offering stability beyond seasonal employment
  • 4 weeks of paid holiday per year
  • A balanced working schedule:
    • 4-day working week for 6 months of the year
    • 5-day working week during the summer months
  • The opportunity to work in a Michelin-starred restaurant within a professional, supportive, and down-to-earth team

Due to our rural location, a full driving licence and access to a car is strongly advised.
